Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of plant derived, aromatic essential oils to promote physical and psychological wellbeing. They can be used in massage or other therapeutic techniques such as lotions, creams, bath, candles and diffusers as part of a holistic wellbeing regime.
A combination of massage and essential oils whether self massage or from a professional therapist can be extremely beneficial and therapeutic, helping to balance and lift the emotions while tackling tension and stress within the body.
I absolutely love the versatility of essential oils, mixing blends in carrier oils for clients and for myself personally in lotions and candle making plus diffusing them in a diffuser. Having the knowledge of professional training being an aromatherapist is wonderful however if you do not have professional training in essential oil use, please air on the side of caution when using essential oils but also enjoy them, maybe invest in a good aromatherapy book?
